Town Council Meeting for

February 17, 2017

1. Call to order:

Mayor Peterson called to order the special meeting of the Leeds Town Council at 9:30am on

February 17, 2017 at Leeds Town Hall, 218 N Main.

3. Approval of Agenda:

4. Action Items:

a. Canyon Creek Drive project

Mayor Peterson, there was a change order that was submitted by Darren Cottam for back filling and relocating some boulders that were discovered. The concern was the material that was originally behind the wall was not suitable there as fill. Elliott was kind enough to get involved and discuss the situation with LDWA and available material. Elliott if you would like to bring us up to date, as to what is on these sheets in front of us.

Councilmember Sheltman, as far as LDWA, they are just willing to supply the dirt that is necessary to supplement fill dirt behind the wall for support.

Councilmember Blake, do they mix rocks in it.

Councilmember Sheltman, there will be some small rocks in it, but overall it will just be rock with small rock. As far as Rocks N More, that is basically to fill it in, put the ruts around the front of it so it helps protect both ends of the culvert. Then the other is after that is completed, for asphalt work, if anything extra is needed as far as packing a little more dirt, that is covered under the estimate. The only thing I don’t know here is, he has heavy duty truck and truck and loader, so I am assuming that is part of equipment that is necessary. It is not priced out; it is at $2500.00, which is what my understanding of it was. It also includes dump truck rentals, equipment time, or anything that comes up. This is not a cost plus, this is basically what it is.

Mayor Peterson, the change order that was submitted by the contractor was for $1500.00, for moving the rocks, and then the fill was 290 yards, at $14.00 a yard.

Councilmembers discussed it further.

Mayor Peterson asked for a motion to approve utilizing material form LDWA in the amount of $400.00 and Rocks N More for the equipment and labor of $2500.00, to work on the back filling of the Canyon Creek project and the relocation of the large boulders in the approach to the actual wing wall.

Councilmember Sheltman, I so move. 2nd by Councilmember Blake. All voted “Aye”. Motion Passed in a Roll Call Vote.
