Town Council Meeting for

September 27, 2017

1. Call to Order:

Mayor Peterson called to order the work meeting of the Leeds Town Council at 5:34pm on September 27, 2017, at Leeds Town Hall, 218 N Main.

Also in attendance were Commissioner Robbins and Poast.

2. Discussion on General Plan survey questions

Town Council and Commissioners discussed the survey questions for the General Plan. The survey will be mailed out with the trash statements and a drop box for the survey will be placed at the post office.

Councilmember Cundick moved to adjourn the meeting. 2nd by Councilmember Rohr. All voted “Aye”. Motion Passed.

5. Declaration of Abstentions or Conflicts: None.

6. Approval of Agenda:

Councilmember Cundick moved to approve tonight’s agenda and meeting minutes of September 13, 2017. 2nd by Councilmember Sheltman. Motion passed in a Roll Call Vote.

7. Citizen Comments:

Susan Savage expressed appreciation to the people who helped with the Smithsonian event.

8. Announcements:

a. Mayor Peterson indicated the Silver Reef Museum will be open Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 to 5pm and on Thursday evenings, from 5 to 8pm during the Smithsonian.

9. Public Hearings: None.

10. Action Items:

a. Copier buy out of lease

Mayor Peterson discussed buying out the lease on the copier. The cost is $2,217.33 dollars with the same monthly maintenance cost. Parts are guaranteed for two years and the monthly payment on the lease has been $192.00 plus the maintenance cost.

Town Council discussed it.

Councilmember Cundick made a motion to take the buyout. 2nd by Councilmember Rohr. Motion passed in a Roll Call Vote.

11. Discussion Items:

a. Follow up on Main Street storm water

Karl Rasmussen and Town Council discussed the engineering that Karl has been working on for Main Street storm water. The estimate came in at $227,400 and at next Town Council meeting, Karl will bring in the full report.

b. Letter regarding Trout Unlimited proposal

Town Council discussed the Letter that the Mayor drafted concerning the LWC meeting that was held in regards to a Trout Unlimited proposal. The Council all agreed to send the letter opposing the proposal.

c. Finalize Meet the Candidates Night

Town Council discussed Meet the Candidates Night. It will be held October 18th from 7-9pm at Town Hall.

12. Citizen Comments:

Susan Savage thanked Town Council for their support on Trout Unlimited.

13. Staff Reports:

Josh Nowell from Ensign gave an update on the Main Street project and discussed it with Town Council.

Councilmember Rohr asked the Mayor to mention in the newsletter that trash cans can be repaired.

Mayor Peterson stated the Leeds Survey will be mailed out with the trash bills.
